Texas Heirloom Tomatoes Star in Salsa

By GREG MORAGO, Houston Chronicle  Sept. 29, 2009

Chef Rick Bayless (foodies cheered when he won Bravo's Top Chef Masters this summer) tapped two Texas farms to provide tomatoes for Frontera Farmers' Market Heirloom Tomato Salsa, sold exclusively at Whole Foods Market. Brad Stufflebeam of Home Sweet Farm in Brenham and Richard Kemp of Cedar Creek Farm in Abilene use sustainable agricultural practices to promote their locally grown produce; their tomatoes — including heirloom varieties Old Roma, Juliet, Black Plum, Costoluto Genovese, Marglobe, Orange Brandywine and Early Girl — were included in the salsa. The limited-edition salsa is $5.99.
