That watermelon weighed 81.3 lbs. !!!

Sand Creek Farm brought ponies!

In 2008 we grew over 15 different heirloom melons and watermelons.

More Pictures Coming Soon as they Ripen...

Sakata's Sweet is one of our earliest and favorite varieties to grow.  A little smaller than a softball, this melon is super sweet with edible crunchy skins.  An exciting and refreshing Asian treat.

Thayer is an American Melon from Kansas that grows up to 10 lbs.  They are slightly ribbed with some netting. The orange flesh has exceptional, mildly sweet flavor.  Similar to a cantaloupe but less "musky"

This is our new favorite watermelon making an easy delivery for our CSA shares.  Dr. King's mini watermelon was originally brought over from Asia, and we were fortunate enough to grow some this season.  A little smaller than a football with rich sweet dark orange-red flesh.  Excellent!

Tendersweet is a juicy sweet yellow-gold watermelon.  Our family loves this one over most other red varieties.

The Banana Melon is one of our most exciting heirloom melons.  Weighing up to 11 pounds  and 18 inches long.  The smooth orange flesh smells, looks and tastes similar to a banana.  This is very rare and worth the experience.

It's a BIG one!

Honeydew is a Southern classic!  The super sweet light green flesh is a real crowd pleaser.

The Israeli Melon is another one of our favorites!  The light green flesh is sweet, juicy and very fragrant.

Casaba is a late melon for the season and has very sweet white flesh, tough golden rind, and a good keeper, can be stored for a few months!
