Each wheel of Veldhuizen Farms cheese is a family-made creation! Stuart and his family raise the crops to feed his select herd of home-raised Holstein-Jersey cross cows. This rich golden milk is made into cheese in the cheese making room on the farm. The cheese is then aged to perfection in the aging cave on the farm, where temperature and humidity are carefully monitored. Stuart says, "We are a small family farm that believes in doing things in a traditional manner. We believe that great milk makes great cheese, and that great grazing makes great milk. If the way the cows are treated and raised, and the way the land is taken care of, and a traditional approach to cheese making is important to you, and most of all if you appreciate a great tasting cheese, we have what you are looking for!" We believe in sustainable agriculture, and being good stewards of the land. We plan for year round grazing by planting crops such as oats, rye, sudan, alfalfa, and clover. No chemicals are used on our land. We also believe in using natural veterinary care for our cows. We use no antibiotics, or artificial hormones on our dairy cows. We believe cows are made to eat grass, our cows are on the pasture 365 days a year. Healthy contented cows produce the best milk, which makes the best cheese.
